New Fishing Registration for 2010:

For the first time, in 2010 Massachusetts saltwater fisherpersons  are required to register (no charge in 2010) to help regulators gather information about the size of catches. Go to www.countmyfish.noaa.gov or call 888-MRIP-411.( Saltie, Lou Mackeil worked actively on developing this new federally mandated registration to benefit MA fishing access and management.)

25 August speaker will be Joe O'Clair, longtime Salties member and professional fly tyer. See his website:www.flycatcherflies.com He will describe how he uses some new materials and products to create a new series of very productive saltwater flies. Fishing workshop starts at 6:30PM at Yarmouth Senior Center. Visitors are welcome.

September 11 (Saturday) will be our annual One Day Fishing Derby. Rain date is the 12th. Shore, Kayak and Boat categories for Stripers and other species (top prize goes to biggest striper). Weigh-in is at Sesuit Inn to be followed by buffet dinner (byob). The cost is $15 which includes dinner, T-shirt and prizes. This event is limited to Salties and family. Check for details and where to send your reservation in August Newsletter.

September 23 Speaker, Capt Jeff Bees,  charters his custom 23 foot Regulator out of Ryder's Cove Marina (Chatham). He specializes in light tackle and fly fishing for Striped Bass, Blues and Tuna. He is going to discuss light tackle fishing the waters of  Pleasant Bay, the outside of Chatham inlet, Monomoy, and  the tuna grounds east of Chatham.
